The San Antonio Hot Tub Dealer That Also Builds the Deck

Most hot tub dealers sell you a spa and hand you a delivery date. Deck builders, meanwhile, build the platform and leave the electrical and spa setup to someone else.

We do both. That is one contract, one point of contact, and a single warranty covering the full installation.

That matters more than it sounds. A spa sitting on an improperly engineered deck is a liability. Likewise, a beautiful deck with a spa dropped on top by a separate crew, wired by a third-party electrician, and finished by whoever showed up is how projects become problems.

We are an authorized dealer for some of the best hot tub spas available. We are also a full-service deck construction company with 19+ years in San Antonio.

So we handle every element of the project. That includes brand selection, wet testing, delivery, deck engineering for the spa’s filled weight, 240V electrical coordination, and final installation. A filled spa typically exceeds 5,000 lbs, which is why the engineering matters.

Why a Hot Tub and a Custom Deck Should Be Designed Together

Placing a hot tub on an inadequate surface is one of the most expensive outdoor living mistakes San Antonio homeowners make. Below is what goes wrong when the spa and the deck are not designed as a single project.

  • Structural failure. A filled hot tub holding 400 gallons weighs over 4,000 lbs, plus occupants. Standard deck framing, however, is not engineered for that point load. Therefore, we size beams, joists, and footings for the spa’s filled weight and position.
  • Access and clearance problems. Hot tubs need at least 24 inches of service clearance on two sides. That clearance covers filter access, equipment maintenance, and cover removal. Otherwise, a panel has to come off every time the spa needs service.
  • Electrical rough-in placement. A 240V spa circuit must terminate within a set distance of the spa, with an accessible disconnect box. Planning it during deck design means the conduit hides inside the framing rather than sitting on the surface.
  • Cover lifter mounting. Cover lifters are essential for daily use, so they need a fixed structure at the right height. Consequently, we build the mounting points into the deck surround from the start.
  • Visual integration. Naturally, a spa on a platform designed around it looks intentional. A spa dropped onto an existing deck, with the surround cobbled together afterward, looks exactly like that.

Hot Tub & Spa Brands We Carry in San Antonio

We carry and install a curated selection of top rated hot tub spas. Each brand is chosen for performance, energy efficiency, warranty coverage, and reliability in the Texas climate.

Cal Spas Hot Tubs

Cal Spas Hot Tubs

Cal Spas hot tubs are among the most popular brands we carry, and for good reason. The range runs from entry-level to premium, with strong jet performance, energy-efficient insulation, and solid warranty coverage.

Cal Spas hot tubs suit San Antonio homeowners who want proven quality at a realistic price. Models also run from 2-person relaxation spas up to large 7–8 person entertainment spas.

We stock Cal Spas in our San Antonio showroom, too. Wet testing is available too, so you can feel the jet pressure and seating positions before buying.

vita spas hot tubs

Vita Spas Hot Tubs

Vita Spas hot tubs pair therapeutic jet placement with energy-efficient cabinet insulation. Both matter here, since spas run year-round and electricity costs add up.

The range emphasizes hydrotherapy, with targeted jets for back, neck, shoulder, and foot therapy. For that reason, Vita Spas hot tubs are a strong choice when the primary use is recovery, stress relief, or chronic pain management.

In addition, we carry Vita Spas in multiple configurations and seat counts.

Dimension One Spas

Dimension One Spas

Dimension One is a premium line built around a proprietary Jet Therapy system. It uses air-water mixing, so the massage is broader than standard jet nozzles deliver.

These spas suit homeowners wanting a step up in hydrotherapy quality, cabinet aesthetics, and long-term build quality. We install and service Dimension One throughout the San Antonio area.

L.A Spas

L.A. Spas

L.A. Spas offer strong value in the mid-range category. They are well built, perform well on jets, and also come in a wide range of sizes.

Options include LED lighting, waterfalls, and entertainment system packages, for example. In short, they suit homeowners who want premium features without top-tier luxury pricing.

Swim Spas

Swim Spas

Swim spas combine hot tub therapy with a counter-current swimming system. You get fitness capability, hydrotherapy, and year-round use in a footprint smaller than a pool.

We carry models from 12 to 19 feet. Dual-zone versions, meanwhile, keep the swimming area cooler than the therapy end.

For San Antonio homeowners wanting pool-like fitness without the cost or space of a full pool, a swim spa is consistently the most practical alternative.

Inflatable Spas and Hot Tubs

Inflatable Spas and Hot Tubs

Inflatable spas and hot tubs are a legitimate entry point. In practice, they let you try hot tub ownership before committing to a permanent installation.

However, the limitations are real. They heat slowly, hold temperature poorly, and offer limited jet performance next to hard-sided spas. Even so, they work, and they are affordable.

Considering one as a first step? We are happy to talk through the upgrade path. That way, you can plan the deck and electrical now rather than retrofitting later.

How Our Brands Compare to Others You May Be Researching

Most buyers shop several brands before deciding. Here is an honest read on a few we do not stock, so you can compare fairly.

Bullfrog Spas hot tubs use a proprietary JetPak system — removable jet modules that can be swapped between seats. That is a genuine differentiator when household members have different hydrotherapy needs. Our Cal Spas and Vita Spas hot tubs use fixed jet layouts instead, which is why wet testing matters so much.

Master Spas is best known to many San Antonio owners through its swim spa line. If you already own one, note that we replace covers for most major manufacturers, Master Spas hot tub covers included.

Royal Spas hot tubs and Garden Spas hot tub models also come up regularly in searches. However, we do not carry either line. Still, we are glad to compare specifications against what we stock during a showroom visit.

Hot Tub Covers, Maintenance & Long-Term Care

A quality cover is one of the most important and most overlooked parts of spa ownership. Below is what San Antonio owners need to know.

Cover Quality Matters in Texas Heat

San Antonio’s UV exposure degrades foam inserts and vinyl faster than most climates. A waterlogged, cracked cover then loses insulating value and drives heating costs up sharply.

We recommend replacing covers every 4–6 years here, regardless of brand.

Cover Lifters Extend Cover Life

Manual lifting stresses the hinge and, over time, tears the vinyl. A proper lifter, mounted to the deck surround we build, allows one-person operation. Consequently, there is no lifting strain on the cover or on you.

Water Chemistry in San Antonio

Local hard water requires more frequent calcium management than many markets. So we walk every buyer through a basic water chemistry routine at installation. We can also recommend local water treatment resources.

Filter Maintenance

Typically, spa filters need rinsing monthly and deep cleaning quarterly. We cover this during the installation walkthrough and answer questions about your specific model.

Our Hot Tub Installation Process in San Antonio

Step 1 — Showroom Visit & Wet Test

Visit our showroom at 10615 Perrin Beitel, Suite 604. We keep models available for wet testing, which is the only reliable way to evaluate jets, seating ergonomics, and water pressure.

Our team also walks you through each model and explains operating costs honestly. Then we help match a spa to your use case and budget.

Step 2 — Site Evaluation & Deck Design

Next, we visit your property and evaluate the proposed location. The deck or spa surround is engineered for the spa’s filled weight. We also identify the 240V electrical path, plan equipment clearances, and confirm HOA and permit requirements.

Step 3 — Permit & Electrical Coordination

Most installations here require a permit and a dedicated 240V circuit from a licensed electrician. We coordinate both. In other words, you never manage multiple contractors.

Step 4 — Deck Construction

First, we build the platform with engineered footings, beam sizing, and joist spacing for the load. Cover lifter mounting points, service access panels, and electrical conduit all go in during construction rather than afterward.

Step 5 — Spa Delivery & Installation

Next, we coordinate delivery with the manufacturer and manage any crane or equipment needed for placement. Final positioning happens on the completed deck. Finally, we confirm plumbing connections, fill the spa, and run the startup sequence.

Step 6 — Electrical Connection & Walkthrough

The licensed electrician makes the final 240V connection at the disconnect box. After that, we walk you through operation, water chemistry, filter maintenance, and cover care. The goal is long-term ownership, not just a good first week.

Hot Tub & Spa FAQs

Which are the best hot tub spas for San Antonio homeowners?

It depends on your primary use case. For hydrotherapy and therapeutic recovery, Vita Spas hot tubs offer some of the most targeted jet placement in the mid-range category. Cal Spas hot tubs, meanwhile, consistently perform well on value and variety across sizes. Dimension One is then the step up for premium hydrotherapy and build quality. We carry all three, so a side-by-side comparison during a showroom visit is easy to arrange. Better still, wet test them and feel the difference yourself.

Total cost typically ranges from $12,000 to $45,000+, covering the spa, deck platform, electrical, and installation. For instance, entry-level hard-sided spas with a basic surround start around $10,000–$15,000. Mid-range Cal Spas or Vita Spas hot tubs with a custom composite deck run $18,000–$28,000. Swim spas with full deck integration run $30,000–$55,000+. Either way, you get a fixed written quote before any work begins.

They work well as a no-commitment introduction. Still, the limitations are real. They often take 12–24 hours to reach temperature, lose heat quickly in cooler weather, and deliver minimal jet pressure. Typically they last 3–5 years before replacement. So if you are seriously considering a permanent hot tub, we generally recommend going straight to a hard-sided model. The experience gap is significant, and the long-term cost works out better.

Bullfrog Spas hot tubs use removable JetPak modules that can be repositioned between seats. That flexibility genuinely helps when different household members want different jet configurations. We do not stock the line. Nevertheless, we are happy to discuss how it compares with what we carry, so you can make the call with real information.

A well-integrated spa does contribute to value and marketability here. That means proper installation on a purpose-built deck, together with professional electrical work. The value is not purely in the spa, though. Rather, it comes from the outdoor living environment the spa anchors. An above-ground spa on bare concrete adds far less than one integrated into a custom deck with lighting and structure around it.

Spa-only installation on an adequate existing surface with electrical in place takes 1–2 days. A full project with custom deck platform, electrical, and installation typically runs 2–3 weeks including permitting. Either way, you receive a written timeline with your quote.

Local hard water requires more active calcium and pH management than softer-water markets. Typically, the baseline routine is weekly water testing, monthly filter rinsing, quarterly filter deep cleaning, and bi-annual water changes. Cover condition should also be checked annually, since UV exposure here is punishing and a waterlogged cover raises heating costs. We walk every buyer through the full routine at installation.

It depends on the deck’s structural condition and original engineering. During the site visit, we check footing depth, beam sizing, joist span, and current condition. If the deck can carry the filled weight with correct load distribution, we proceed. If it cannot, we tell you exactly what structural work is needed and quote it as part of the project.
