Who Installs TimberTech Decking in San Antonio, TX?

Paradise Decks & Spas has installed TimberTech across San Antonio since 2006 — both halves of the line, Advanced PVC and Composite. Which half you want depends almost entirely on sun exposure and whether bare feet are involved, and that’s the conversation we start with rather than a color deck.

TimberTech Composite vs Advanced PVC: What’s Actually Different

This is the only decision that really matters on a TimberTech deck, and most homeowners don’t know the brand is split in two.

TimberTech Composite is a wood-flour-and-polymer board with a protective cap. Built from roughly 80% recycled content, it looks and feels closest to wood and costs less. The Reserve collection is capped on all four sides — including inside the grooves — with no wood fiber in the cap itself. Prime and Premier are capped on three sides.

TimberTech Advanced PVC, formerly sold as AZEK, contains no wood at all. It’s a capped PVC board, and removing the wood flour changes how it behaves in heat and water. TimberTech states it stays up to 30 degrees cooler to the touch than traditional composite decking, and offers up to 40% better slip resistance, wet or dry, than competing products.

Three practical consequences of that split:

  1. Warranty length. Advanced PVC carries a Limited Lifetime Product Warranty plus 50-year fade and stain coverage. Composite runs 30 years on Legacy, Reserve, and Terrain, and 25 on Prime, Prime+, and Premier.
  2. Water. Advanced PVC is TimberTech’s recommendation for docks and wet applications. Composite isn’t.
  3. Format. Tongue-and-groove porch boards and cladding only come from the Advanced PVC lines. If your project includes a covered porch floor, that decides it.

TimberTech is owned by The AZEK Company, which became part of James Hardie Industries in 2025 — worth knowing if you’re weighing warranty terms over a 30-year horizon.

Which TimberTech Line for a San Antonio Deck?

Prime+ / PremierComposite, 3-sided cap25-yearEntry tier, the honest step up from pressure-treated pine

If your deck faces west, wraps a pool, or will see barefoot traffic in July, we’ll steer you toward Advanced PVC — usually Harvest if budget is the constraint, Vintage or Landmark if it isn’t. For a shaded or north-facing deck, composite gives you the same look for meaningfully less.

How Much Does a TimberTech Deck Cost in San Antonio?

TimberTech deck installation in San Antonio generally runs $33 to $70 per square foot installed, which is a wider band than most brands because the PVC and composite halves are genuinely different products. A 300-square-foot TimberTech deck typically lands between $10,000 and $21,000.

CollectionTypical installed cost per sq ft300 sq ft
Prime+ / Premier$33 – $40$9,900 – $12,000

Planning figures for the San Antonio area as of 2026. Verify against current Paradise pricing before publishing.

Those figures cover substructure, fasteners, and a basic railing. Height over 30 inches, stair runs, and railing upgrades move them, and clay-soil lots needing deeper or helical piers typically add $500 to $1,500. The footing and framing work is detailed on our deck construction page.

The reliable way to save money here is pressure-treated framing under a TimberTech surface. Spend the budget on the boards you’ll actually touch.

Heat, Slip Resistance, and Why This Matters Around a Pool

We build spas and pool surrounds as well as decks, and that’s where TimberTech Advanced PVC earns its premium in this climate.

Heat. TimberTech’s published figure is up to 30 degrees cooler to the touch than traditional composite. Their own caveat is the honest part, and we’ll repeat it: every decking product gets hot in the sun, and darker colors get hotter regardless of material. For a full-sun San Antonio deck, choosing a lighter color does as much work as choosing the premium line.

Wet slip resistance. Up to 40% better than competing products, per TimberTech. On a pool or hot tub surround, that’s the specification that actually matters, and it’s the reason we default to Advanced PVC around water rather than any composite.

Water behavior. No wood flour means nothing in the board to absorb moisture, swell, or feed mold. Around a spa that gets splashed daily through a humid South Texas summer, that difference compounds.

The other half of heat management is shade. A pergola or patio cover does more for a west-facing deck than any board upgrade — we plan shade structures alongside the deck, not after it.

Fire Ratings Worth Knowing for Hill Country Properties

If you’re building in Boerne, Bandera, Bulverde, Canyon Lake, or anywhere on the wooded edge of the Hill Country, this is a section most decking pages skip.

TimberTech publishes fire performance by collection:

  • Vintage — Class A Flame Spread rating and WUI compliant
  • Landmark — Class A Flame Spread rating
  • Harvest+ — Class A Flame Spread rating and WUI compliant
  • Harvest — WUI compliant, Class B Flame Spread

WUI stands for Wildland-Urban Interface — the standard applied where development meets undeveloped brush. Cedar and pressure-treated pine decks carry no equivalent rating. If your lot backs onto greenbelt or cedar brake, or your insurer has asked questions about exterior materials, the Vintage and Harvest+ collections are the ones to ask about by name.

Where We Install TimberTech Across San Antonio and the Hill Country

Bexar County and inner metro: San Antonio · Stone Oak · Alamo Heights · Helotes · Converse · Universal City

Comal, Guadalupe, Kendall, and Bandera counties: Boerne · Bulverde · New Braunfels · Canyon Lake · Schertz · Cibolo · Bandera · Lake Medina

A scheduling note specific to this brand: TimberTech’s premium collections and multiwidth options are frequently special-order rather than stocked locally, so lead times run longer than for common composite. We confirm availability and HOA color approval before ordering, because a special-order board on a rejected architectural application is an expensive mistake.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does a TimberTech deck cost in San Antonio?

TimberTech deck installation in San Antonio typically runs $33 to $70 per square foot installed, putting a 300-square-foot deck between roughly $10,000 and $21,000. Entry-level composite collections like Prime+ sit at the bottom of that range and Advanced PVC collections like Vintage and Landmark at the top. Deck height, stairs, railing style, and clay-soil footing work move the final number.

Do you offer free TimberTech deck estimates?

Yes. We come to your property at no cost, take measurements and grade readings, walk through the composite and Advanced PVC options with you, and leave a fixed written quote. No charge for the visit, no obligation, and the price you approve is the price you pay.

Which TimberTech product lines do you install?

Both categories and all current collections — Advanced PVC in Vintage, Landmark, Harvest+ and Harvest, and Composite in Legacy, Reserve, Terrain, Prime+ and Premier — plus matching TimberTech railing. We also install Trex, AZEK, and other PVC, so the recommendation reflects your deck’s exposure and budget rather than a single-brand agreement.

How does TimberTech decking handle intense summer sun and heat?

TimberTech Advanced PVC contains no wood flour and, per TimberTech, stays up to 30 degrees cooler to the touch than traditional composite decking. TimberTech also notes that all decking gets hot in the sun and that darker colors feel hotter, so on full-sun San Antonio decks we recommend lighter colors alongside the PVC upgrade. Advanced PVC also offers up to 40% better slip resistance wet or dry, which matters around pools and spas.

What warranty comes with a TimberTech deck?

TimberTech Advanced PVC collections carry a Limited Lifetime Product Warranty plus a 50-Year Limited Fade & Stain Warranty. Composite collections carry 30-year limited product and fade and stain coverage on Legacy, Reserve, and Terrain, and 25-year coverage on Prime, Prime+, and Premier, prorated in later years. All of it assumes installation to TimberTech’s published specifications, which is why the installer matters to your coverage. Our own workmanship warranty covers the install separately.
